Manhunt underway after man tries to rob post office armed with a knife

The man threatened staff but got away with nothing in the end.

GARDAÍ IN CORK are investigating after an attempted robbery of a post office in Mayfield this afternoon.

At about 2pm this afternoon a man entered Mayfield Post Office on the Kerry Road.

He is described as 5ft 8” tall with brown hair and was wearing:

  • A dark coloured hoodie
  • Grey tracksuit bottoms
  • Sunglasses.

The man was carrying a knife and threatened staff at the post office, but left the premises empty handed.

Gardaí said that he is then believed to have fled the scene in a blue Ford Fiesta – with a partial registration of 99-D.

The car was later recovered burnt out at Murmont Court and was seized for technical examination.

Gardaí at Mayfield are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 021 4558510
